Halloween was a pleasant, quiet affair for us this year. We loaded the family (Mark, Kendra, Karamea, and Bear) into the car and drove out to Grandma and Grandpop R's house for my family's traditional Halloween fare of Chicken and Dumplings and spiced apple cider. When I was younger, a warm meal was a must before an evening of trick-or-treating in the cold, dark, and often snowy evenings. It wasn't necessary for a couple of reasons this year: 1) it was WARM! and 2) We weren't going trick-or-treating. But we enjoyed it nevertheless.There will be plenty of years for the excitement and anticipation of loading up on sugar and the subsequent crash, but this year, we relished the opportunity to relax. And for Karamea, that was just ducky...[pun intended]
