We had a ton of fun picking and carving our pumpkins this year. The best part was sharing the experience with Karamea, who is really getting into all of the holidays more now that she is two. She wasn't too sure about cutting into the pumpkins at first, but she soon got into it and helped scoop out the pumpkins, starting one seed at a time and then grabbing fistfuls of the slimy innards. She has been describing jack-o-lanterns as having a "happy face" recently, but after we finished ours and lit the candles inside of them, she wasn't so sure anymore. At one point we asked her to throw something in the trash can (over near the pumkins) and she got a really scared look on her face. But when we reminded her that they are happy pumpkins, she got over her sudden trepidation.
