Merrick at One Month

It hardly seems possible that Merrick has been with us one month already! He has already changed so much; he is getting bigger (mostly longer), stronger, and his eyes are so big and bright. Merrick has become so alert and observant of the world around him this past week, which is really fun to see. The only time it isn't so fun is when those alert periods happen to be at three in the morning! He is very close to smiling, and I can tell that he recognizes me when I come into view. He gets very excited before eating, and it is clear that he is learning the routine of daily life.

We have had amazing weather (in the 70s) here this past week, so we took off on a hike on Wednesday to the same open space where we hiked in January, just a little over a month before Merrick was born. He was quite the trooper and slept most of the way in the stroller.

We are probably being more adventurous with Merrick and getting out to do more activities, mostly so we can keep the girls on their regular weekly schedule. He makes it easy by being very content pretty much wherever we go, whether that is swimming lessons, the park, hiking, shopping, on play dates, to baby showers, couples' group, or grandma's house.
