Tour de Fun

Our neighboring city has a great brewery that espouses environmentally sound practices, renewable resources, and the like. They are also big on promoting biking, and every Labor Day weekend, they have a festival that kicks off with a bike parade. We attended for the first time in 2010, and had a kick watching the people dressed in crazy costumes. This was probably the coolest one we saw this year:

Carrie with the girls-all dressed up and ready to go!

My sister and her fiance were planning on riding in the parade, and were going to pull the girls in our bike trailer, but it wouldn't attach to their bikes properly, so Mark got wrangled into riding too. I was going to wear the skirt he's wearing, but he didn't want to stand out in the parade by being dressed normally, so he wore it and borrowed some other costume elements from Carrie.

Excited to get going
 And they're off!
Merrick was fascinated by all the colors and noise
After they made the loop, they joined Merrick (who had fallen asleep) and me to watch the remainder of the parade. Some riders even threw candy and mardi gras beads to us! It was such a fun way to kick off the long weekend and just what I needed after a somewhat stressful first week of teaching.
