I knew that having Kaylee just two days before my birthday would mean busy times when it came to our birthdays, but it just means double the fun, even if things are a little hectic. On Friday, April 4th, we had most of my side of the family up to celebrate Kaylee's birthday. We had bratwurst and hot dogs with potato salad for dinner, and dirt dessert instead of cake. Kaylee loved the gummy worms!
The kids liked throwing rocks in the irrigation ditch right by the camper.
Merrick liked pretending to drive the RV.

After dinner, we made a fire and enjoyed the fire pit that Mark recently picked up at a yard sale.
Uncle Larry taught Karamea how to make marshmallow taffy...and a mess! ;)
Then on Sunday, my birthday, Mark's aunt and uncle were traveling through on their way back to Minnesota and stopped by after church for a visit. The last time we had seen them was in Alaska when I announced that we were expecting Merrick in 2011, so it had been a long time. They brought an ice cream cake and an Easter lily, and we enjoyed a nice visit that afternoon.
After the kids' nap, we drove out to the RV Campground where Mark's aunt and uncle were staying. This campground was one damaged heavily in the flood last September, and we were amazed at the destruction we saw. It was nice to see that they had part of the campground up and running and the restoration efforts that had already occurred. The kids liked throwing rocks in the irrigation ditch right by the camper.

Dinner consisted of grilled salmon and other appetizers enjoyed by the campfire.
It was such a pleasant birthday weekend, and one I will look back on fondly in years to come.
