The weekend before Halloween, our town puts on a family festival downtown with lots of games and trick or treating. The weather was amazing, and we all had a fun time. Merrick wore the pumpkin costume my mom made when I was a kid, Karamea was a horse, and Kaylee was Rapunzel from Tangled. The next day, we carved our pumpkins and the kids performed an impromptu pumpkin percussion concert.
On Halloween, Grandma joined us for our traditional meal of Chicken and Dumplings and then for trick or treating in our neighborhood. The kids helped Mark with his costume...
One pleasant surprise was connecting with some neighbors we hadn't met before as our kids made their way from house to house together. I'm sure they thought we were a little different since this is what we looked like, but hey, it was Halloween, right?!
