Well, I blinked again, and another month went by! Happy 10 months, Kaylee! Maybe time seems to be passing so quickly because you are so sweet, happy and fun; each day just rolls so naturally into the next.Eating - More finger food! Frozen blueberries, bits of bagel, pasta, cheese, chicken, strawberries, pear, cheerios, cauliflower and broccoli, canned green beans, even small pieces of salmon! It works out so well to let her explore her foods on her own; Mark and I get to eat our meals and Kaylee is entertained while practicing motor skills. Win-win! This is definitely one area where I feel like we are much more laid-back than we were with Karamea. Some other new foods that Kaylee tried and liked this month include lentils and salmon (steamed, then pureed in the blender and frozen in to cubes).
Moving - She's not quite walking yet, but Kaylee can definitely move. She crawls in long strides, creeps along the furniture with determination and purpose, and can stand unsupported (when she's not paying attention), but isn't quite ready to make the move to walking on her own yet. She's able to get over and under obstacles that kept her confined until just a few days ago-we constructed a baby-wall of sorts in our living room by lining up the coffee table, a small chair, and an ottoman, but she can crawl through the coffee table and over the ottoman now. So much for that! It was good while it lasted...
Playing - One of the biggest changes I have noticed is Kaylee's ever increasing sense of humor. She loves playing peek-a-boo and laughing, actively seeks attention from Karamea, and loves her reflection, other babies, and pictures of babies. Kaylee loves music and will bop along to the tune of most any song.
Highlights over the last month include going to the Stock Show and having Grandma and Grandpa O visit. They were here from Monday night through Friday morning, and we look forward to their return and spending more time together after they visit relatives in Minnesota. We are also quite fortunate that Grandma R lives nearby and we enjoy sharing dinner with her about two nights a week. Mark and the girls usually spend one morning a week at her house too. We are so blessed to be able to enjoy so much family time!
Note: The picture with Kaylee on Mark's shoulders was taken on January 29th and it was 61 degrees outside. On February 1st and 2nd, school was canceled for two days on account of extremely low temperatures: windchill from -25 to -35 degrees Fahrenheit! Gotta love Colorado!
