A Fall Tradition lives on...

With the flooding that happened in our town mid-September, there was some concern about the farm that traditionally holds a market days festival at the end of the month. Their farm is along the banks of the river, and some of their land sustained major damage, but the pumpkin fields and their home were fine, so they went ahead and had the event just a few short weeks after the flood.
We headed over on Sunday afternoon after finishing helping Mom up at the ranch and saying goodbye to the place for the last time. It was comforting to go and do something fun that is a family tradition rather than mope around and dwell on what we had been doing all weekend. It was a perfect fall day and the views were amazing.
The hay ride was shortened because a huge swath of the road had been eaten away by the river, but other than that, we enjoyed the same things we do every year: the tractor train, petting zoo, carriage rides, and looking at the vendors' wares.
We even bumped into some of our friends whose girls are about the same ages as ours, which was fun, since we intentionally met up with them there in previous years.
We still need to head back to pick out our pumpkins for Halloween; by the time we finished all of the special activities, it had already been a long day for all of us, and we didn't have any energy or time left to head out into the fields. In a way, it is kind of nice, so we can pick out our pumpkins when the pace is a little slower and we can take our time.

I was just catching up on your blog. Everybody looks so good. Merrick is absolutely adorable. I love the pic with him on Mark's shoulders. I'm glad you guys are having a nice fall.
