March Moments

We had a very busy March and made a lot of fun memories. Mark's parents were with us for about the first week of the month, and everyone enjoyed the time together. Here's the morning we said farewell to them until summer. The girls were super excited to be hanging out in their motor home.

We finally invested in a good pair of clippers and gave Merrick his first big hair cut. Up to this point, I had been trimming it with scissors, but we decided it would be easier and more even to just buzz it. He wasn't really happy about it during the process, but he liked the end result. I think he looks a lot older with it cut short.The kids and I went to a birthday party for a friend from church mid-March, and they loved getting their faces painted.

My mom continues to join us for dinner once or twice a week and has a fun time with the kids as we finalize dinner prep. Here she is playing catch with Merrick. (And yes, those are Christmas cards on the closet doors in the background. I finally got around to taking them down the last weekend in March.)

As soon as Merrick saw the camera, he started hamming it up and flashed me this winning smile. What a charmer!

At the beginning of spring break, we took Merrick and Kaylee fishing at one of Mark's (and the kids') favorite spots. Karamea was at a birthday party for a friend from school, so we wanted the other two to have something fun to do. The weather was glorious and we all had a great time, even though we didn't catch anything besides weeds.

Another spring break adventure was trying out the fire pit that Mark bought at a garage sale. The kids were fascinated and loved roasting marshmallows once the flames died down. It was so enjoyable and relaxing! I'm already looking forward to many more evenings kicking back around a fire with the family.

March was great; this was just a brief glimpse...we also enjoyed a luncheon for volunteers for the children's program at church and a girl's movie night with good friends as we headed into spring break. I'm excited for a wonderful, fun-filled April! We've already had an amazing time and it is only April 2nd! More to come soon about our recent mini-vacation to Denver...
