Well, it's almost Christmas, so that means it's about time I post about our Thanksgiving adventures...
This Thanksgiving was a happy one, spent with family enjoying fun times and breathtaking scenery together in Crested Butte, Colorado. My sister and her fiance dreamed up the idea of gathering both families together in a rental home over a year ago, and it was such a wonderful time. We made many memories, spent a lot of quality time together, and ate waaaaay too much food! It was fun to finally meet Greg's whole family. It's hard to sum up the three and a half days here, because we filled every minute.
The mornings were my favorite time of day. Thanksgiving morning, I took this picture of Mt. Crested Butte, and then we received a visit from one of the locals.
Here's a photo of the room where we stayed (excuse our strewn-about clothes!)
The home also boasted a good sledding hill and a hot tub to warm up in afterward, so we spent some time doing both (and eating some snow, too...)
On Friday afternoon, we drove down to the town of Crested Butte and went window shopping and exploring. Merrick found this twig and said it was his bunny.
Every building in the downtown area was so unique. I had to grab a photo of this cafe, even though we didn't stop for coffee there. (I guess Kaylee did stop for a bite of snow, though...)
We had glorious weather and were able to tromp around in the snow without any jackets on for most of the afternoon.

We worked together to make Thanksgiving dinner, disproving the 'too many cooks in the kitchen' proverb.

Karamea's hair shows just how wild this trip down the hill was.

Mark and I got up early and went for a 2 mile walk Friday morning, and were greeted by this view:

When we first planned our trip, I was a bit wary of a 6 hour drive with three kids, and uncertain about how it would go sharing a house among 19 people, perhaps even a bit skeptical of how it would go preparing the Thanksgiving meal in an unfamiliar kitchen...but our time there was fantastic, and all of those concerns turned out to be non-issues. We just had a fun time with nice people. On our last night there, we all marveled in the glow of this awe-inspiring sunset, giving thanks for the good time that was had by all.
