Kaylee at 8 Months

Blogger was having some formatting issues, so I'm reposting this...

Well, time got away from me again! I can't believe it has been nearly a month since I last posted! Here are some highlights from Kaylee's life over the last month.

Growing - Kaylee now has 2 teeth! - She's wearing 12-18 month onesies and 12 month pants and sleepers. - She now weighs in at about 24 pounds (based on occasional weigh-ins while we're in the locker room at the swimming pool), but she seems to be slimming down or (toning up!) a bit due to all of her activity throughout the day.

Eating - Kaylee's menu has expanded to include: green beans, pears, banana, apple, prunes, cauliflower, and acorn squash. - We really enjoy making her vegetables from scratch, pureeing them in the blender and freezing them in ice cube trays. We mostly buy the fruit, just because it is a little more involved to prepare. - She's getting really good at grabbing things (like her Gerber puffs) and was practicing her pincer grasp on little bits of banana the other night.

Sleeping - Well, she's not quite sleeping through the night yet and still wakes up to eat twice at night (around 1 and 4 am! Oy vey!) BUT we are thrilled at how well she goes down now and that her naps in the afternoon and her bedtime have become consistent and in sync with Karamea's times. On a typical day, they both nap from around 2 until 4 and then go to sleep at 8! This morning we got to sleep in until 8, which was like paradise for this mama who usually gets up around 5 am!

Playing - One of Kaylee's favorite games is one she and I improvised together. She'll get into a standing position on our bed (holding onto my propped up pillow) and I say, "Timber!" and she giggles and then allows herself to topple over backwards before I dive in for more tickling. Then she'll quickly roll over and climb up again for another round. - Just recently, she came across Karamea's Magna Doodle board and was playing with the pen (under our supervision, of course) and then she actually started drawing with it. Well, tapping it on the board, anyway! - She likes to make music--playing the xylophone and ringing the jingle bells hanging on the door. - Kaylee loves it when Karamea comes over to play with her. - She's a mover and a climber--Kaylee is crawling very quickly these days and if she can pull up on it, she will! She spends a lot of her time standing.

Firsts and Favorites - First Thanksgiving at Uncle Larry and Aunt Keiko's was fun and she loved all of the friendly faces and loving arms to hold her. - She absolutely loves Christmas music! When we've got the stereo on, she will be bopping along with the beat. - We recently skyped with Aunt Carrie and she loved the video phone call. - Kaylee loves the water--either the bathtub or swimming lessons. We just have to be careful and keep on top of the little eczema spot on her chest
