Karamea's First Choir Concert

Sunday night was Karamea's first choir concert. Even though she and the other children were just one part of a very special musical event held at our church, Karamea was proud to be a part of it, and I was a very proud mama!

The adult choir, which my mom sings in, had two songs that had children's parts, and about a month ago, they asked us if Karamea would like to sing with them, and even though she would be the youngest member, we agreed. Karamea has always loved singing and memorizes lyrics very easily, so it wasn't a problem.
The music that was performed that evening was such a blessing and the joy in the room was palpable; from the cello quintet, to the beautifully restored grand piano from the 1880s, the choir, the carols that were sung, and other songs by various members of the church. Everything resonated with the anticipation and elation of Christ's birth and the meaning that blessed event carries in this dark world.
Karamea was so happy to see Uncle J

I had to arrive early with Karamea, so Mark brought Kaylee and Merrick separately, which worked out well, since he had to leave early because they were getting tired. Carrie, J, and J's girlfriend, Betsy all came as well and we enjoyed being around each other. It also brought back a few memories from my childhood when Carrie and I would have to stifle giggles during church because we just about lost it laughing when Kaylee was dancing to a piano solo. Kaylee's enthusiasm, coupled with the coordination of a two and a half year old were so adorable, it just made me smile from ear to ear. (As well as amused many of the people sitting around us and some onlookers from the choir!)

The entire evening was just what I needed to recharge in the midst of a busy time as I wrap up the semester at school and prepare for celebrating Christmas with family next week.
